ABOUT THE TREATMENT
What is endodontics?
Endodontics is the branch of dentistry that deals with diagnosing and treating problems of the dental pulp, meaning the nerve and tissues inside the tooth. When the pulp becomes inflamed or infected, endodontic treatment (root canal treatment) removes the affected tissue, then cleans and seals the root canals.
The goal of endodontics is to save the natural tooth. A properly performed root canal treatment stops the infection, eliminates pain and lets you keep the tooth instead of having it extracted, keeping your row of teeth complete.

How a root canal treatment works
Diagnosis and X-ray
A clinical and X-ray examination shows the condition of the tooth, the number of canals and the extent of the infection, and the treatment is planned based on these findings.
Cleaning and disinfecting the canals
Under local anesthesia, the affected pulp is removed, and the root canals are cleaned, disinfected and shaped with modern instruments.
Filling the canals
The cleaned canals are tightly sealed to prevent reinfection. A properly filled root canal protects the tooth in the long term.
Restoring the tooth
After the root canal treatment, the tooth is rebuilt with a filling or, in cases of extensive damage, with a crown or other prosthetic restoration, to restore its strength and function.
